Q2) What’s worth giving up your life for?
Answers

1. In the last line, what did the writer mean by suggesting that “he may have found more porcupine than rats?"

Rats are scardy cats who scurry away at the sound of foot steps while porcipine bristle to warn their aggressors away. The writer means that the evidence from this year`s Total Defence campaign suggest that the writer found that when there is trouble, the people who will stay in the country and fight against or warn their aggressors of attackers away with their life`s is more the the people who will flee from the country when their is a threat that will cause their life. The writer describe them as porcupine and rats as porcupine will bristle to warn away their enemys while rats will run away when they feel threatened.

2. What’s worth giving up your life for?

I will defend a few things with my life. The first things are my family and friends and myself. Although one of the National Education shared values are " society above self " but I cannot imagine myself laying down my life defending people outside my family circle. I would also prevent race riots and defend racial harmony with my life. With different races living together in Singapore, harmony between different races is crucial to the continuity of peace and properity. I friends from different races and I`ll never trade this bunch of friends with anything in the world. I will also defend Singapore with my life as Singapore is my future and is a future worth defending.

The rule, imposed several years ago, also forbids students in uniform from hanging out anywhere in the neighbouring housing estate. Only the libary is not on the list of fobidden places.
they could only go if they fill in a form and get it approved by the Discipline Mistress or Operation Manager.Teachers also patrol the housing estate near the school to makesure students are not idling there. They fobids their student to loiter as loitering would lead to trouble and because Coral Secondary places much on emhasis on incucating in our habits like using time prudently.

Q2) Do you agree with this rule? Explain your answer.

I agree with this rule as loitering might lead to trouble and i would rather spent my time doing other things then loitering as it is a waste of time.

2)“Hard work leads to success.” -To what extend do you agree with this statement?

I agree with this statement,"Hard work lead to success", very much. If you don`t put in any effort doing something, you will probably not succeed, but if you put in effort , you will succeed. This statement has the same meaning as the statement,"You reap what you sow".let`s take a example , if we want to do well for your examinations, we must always do our homework, pay attention in class, jolt down notes when teachers are teaching us a new chapter, revise what the teacher had taught us when we reached home. We must do these things everyday if we want archieve good results for our test, all these things are hard work.if you don`t do all this things, we won`t be able obtain good results as there is no hard work.
