Questions
1a) What is the Geylang East Central Merchants' Association going to do about the break-ins?
b)Why is it easy for burglers to break into stalls at the two markets in the Kallang area?
2. What do you think should be done to tighten the security of the markets? What do you think of the burglars who brazenly break into the stalls?
1a) The Geylang East Central Merchants` Association held a meeting a week after the July 8 burglury and will be in touch with the relevant authorities, such as NEA and town councils, to look into improving security, possibly by modifying stall layouts and designs. Hawkers are also advised not to leave valuables in their stalls and to buy insurance to guard against theft.
1b) It is easy as thieves got i the stalls byy open ceiling, getting a leg up on the pipes or metal bars running along the walls. There are also little security there. They are also blatant that they sometimes leave footprints and handprintson the wall as well as all over the floor.
2)I think that the should install cameras like cctv to prevent people from stealing from the hawker stall.
